Heavy Duty Shooting Table Plans
Shooting Benches are so nice to have in a Shooting Area and or call it a Shooting Range. I love that Deron built two. We usually set our Tactical Bags and Pistols on one and Deron uses the other to shoot his Rifles. They are also nice to sit on the benches and watch other shooters shooting.
Deron built ours out of Pressure Treated Lumber and made the tough to not only withstand all the wear and tear of using for Shooting Benches, but also the the extreme weather we have here in NW SD. Light weight Shooting Benches would blow over here on a normal day, on a windy day we could wave Good Bye to them. Below are the plans for building nice one's like Deron's, this type will be stable enough for even very large guns as well as last for many, many years to come.
Be forewarned. These are heavy well built Shooting Benches. One person alone will not be able to just pick these up and move them.
We call it our "Range Furniture". Deron built two very heavy duty Shooting Benches and one very heavy extra large Picnic Table for our Shooting Range Area. It might sound strange to some of you, but seriously, Target Shooting is/can be a social event, and you can make it a fun one. Not everyone has land where they can just step out and shoot, but there are Shooting Ranges near almost everyone. Why not ask another couple or a few friends to meet at the Range, shoot some rounds then go out to eat after? If however you drink alcohol, do it after the last gun is unloaded and put away for the day. Deron and I are very fortunate to own land. Deron built a couple of super sturdy Shooting Tables and a really nice big heavy duty deluxe Picnic Table, as well as a Stand/Cabinet for the skeet thrower for our Shooting area out here on the Range where the deer and the antelope play. We have friends out on Friday night or Saturday for Shooting, a Meal and Board Games. It is a lot of fun. And believe me when I tell you we could start a list of folks that want an invitation out here!
When friends come out we often shoot Bows, Sling Shots, Crossbow Pistols, Blow Guns, Throw Knives and I am sure one day, one of us is going to bring a bucket of rocks to throw just for fun. So you need a place to set all your items and a place to sit after for a meal as well as visiting and laughter.
JUST REMEMBER. WHEN IN THE SHOOTING RANGE IT IS ALL ABOUT THE SHOOTING AND GUNS. NO CELL PHONES, NO GOSSIP, NO ALCOHOL, NO PRANKS, IT IS ALL ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT THERE RIGHT THEN. HAVE A GOOD TIME AND KEEP IT SAFE!
